On June 09, 2008 Bhopali men, women and children were arrested after a peaceful protest outside the PM's office. Activists outside relentlessly bought for bail that was repeatedly denied. After nearly two weeks in lock-up, having been abused by the police and regularly beaten for demanding just their rights, they were finally given bail. This video captures some of the celebrations on release, as they are brought back to the welcoming arms of friends and families. Now begins even more struggle, for rights that still haven't been given and for justice that continues to be denied.
On December 3rd, the 20th anniversary of the Bhopal disaster, people from around the world will be participating in protests and direct actions targeting corporate criminals and corporate crime. Although many actions will target Dow Chemical, hundreds will not: actions are being organized against dozens of companies that violate human, environmental, consumer and labour rights.
