BANDA ACEH, Indonesia, 29 December 2008 Putri Saleh hosts a radio programme tailored just for children, tackling issues ranging from school problems to child abuse.

The teenaged host interrupts an Indonesian pop song and explains that listeners are now going to hear a discussion about child trafficking. She and a guest then spend 10 minutes talking about what should be done to stop the problem, particularly in Aceh, where children could be especially vulnerable after the tsunami.

The Internal Security Act in Malaysia allows for the government to arrest and detain a person during peacetime without the need for trial for as long as 60 days

Teresa Kok, a member of parliament for the Malaysian Democratic Action Party, was detained for what the government believed to have been racist remarks made by her that caused religious tension. She was detained for allegedly telling Mosque officials to turn down its speakers when giving the calls to prayer. She was detained seven days under ISA before being released.

The Internal Security Act in Malaysia allows for the government to arrest and detain a person during peacetime without the need for trial for as long as 60 days

Raja Petra was detained, for the second time, under the ISA on September 12, 2008 in Selangor, Malaysia. He operates a well publicised political news blog known as Malaysia Today where he often criticizes the government eventually leading to his September 12th detention which lasted 65 days. When he was released, the reasons given for his detention were:
