Speak Africa: Mobilize Youth in Africa for an effective Advocacy and Activism. African youth is more and more interested in media and activism. African Youth gathered under "Speak Africa" to mobilize their energy and resources for an effective advocacy and activism to speak out on issues harming Africa where young people are the main victims: Corruption, HIV/AIDS, Unemployment, Sexual violence, Armed conflicts, Freedom of expression, etc. Speak Africa is a Pan-African, youth and media-focused communication strategy and multi-media dialogue and information platform designed to engage the attention of youth through art, music and culture and to work in partnership with youth to improve opportunities for their expression, exchange meaningful participation and development. Speak Africa has been recognized by the African Union as platform for Youth and Children in Africa. Its has the potential to advocate for African Youth and Children before the AU and other important audiences in Africa ranged from key decision makers to communities. Speak Africa aims to connect youth across communities and borders through face to face interactions and increased access to communication technology, to build the capacities of youth in communication and media production, assertiveness and leadership, to increase public visibility of youth and their impact on public opinion through wide dissemination of youth focused media products, to facilitate inter-generational interaction, expand the influence of youth on decision makers at all levels and to build an effective pan-African youth alliance that will have legitimacy to engage with African leaders during high level decision making fora, to advocate on issues concerning them and to hold them accountable for their promises, to provide a platform for strengthening exchange amongst persons working on youth towards sharing experience and best practices. Speak Africa as a platform for youth is facilitating the coordination of media and advocacy training for children and youth across the African continent and support increased production and dissemination of their media products towards strengthening of children/youth activism, visibility and voice fulfillment of their rights. Some satellite countries, where Speak Africa will be focusing, include: Egypt (North Africa), Tanzania, Ethiopia, Madagascar and Indian Ocean Isles (East Africa), South Africa (Southern Africa), Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire (West Africa Francophone), Nigeria, The Gambia and Ghana (West Africa Anglophone), Cameroon (Central Africa) and Mozambique (Lusophone).
